Description Of Work: Dan's Roofing repaired the roof over my front porch.

Member Comments: Anthony came out to do the estimate the same day I called. He was professional and thorough in describing what needed to be done. On the day of the repair the crew showed up on time and went right to work. Dan was happy to show me his liability and worker's comp. insurance paperwork when I asked. They did a great job, even correcting some things that had been done wrong when the roof was first constructed. I especially appreciated how well they cleaned up the area when they were done.

Description Of Work: Roof was leaking is several places. Upon inspection, roof was determined to be damaged by hail. The entire roof was removed and replaced on the house and the garage. The garage required extra work due to a hidden wooden roof under the asphalt shingles. Several other roofers tried to 'fix' the leaks (I even tried) and were unsuccessful. The leak would stop for a few rains and then return.

Member Comments: This was, to date, the best contractor experience I have had. The quote was thorough and detailed and the price was reasonable. The work was started on time, completed in a timely fashion and the quality was excellent. Except for the initial contact, all interfaces with the insurance company were handled by Dan's Roofing. This made it very easy for me as the cost changed when the hidden, wood shingle roof was found under the asphalt shingles on the garage. During the re-roofing, care was taken not to damage any of the landscaping, the debris was cleaned up every day and even the removal and replacement of the cover over the gutters was handled by Dan's. When the job was completed (and paid for, of course) I received (without asking) the lien release and guarantee papers. Dan's even provided a 'USB thumb' drive with photos of the work in-process. I highly recommend Dan's Roofing. Best of all - NO LEAKS!!

He came by the day I called and sat down with me and discussed the roof in detail. He advised me on a couple of things that would help make the roof last longer. He was prompt with starting the job and stuck with the job until it was complete. He also did a couple of things that werent roof related since I didnt want to try an hire another contractor that might hold him up with the installation. It was a very good experience. I would recommend Dan's Roofing to anyone.

Work Completed Date: May 17, 2010 , Hire Again: Yes, Approximate Cost: $12,000.00

Home Build Year: 1980 , Description Of Work: Removed two layers of asphalt shingles from a 2-story house with inground pool. Replaced rotten decking where needed. Installed 3-tab, 30-year shingles.

Member Comments: I contacted Dan’s Roofing strictly on the recommendations of Angie’s List. But I hired them to replace my roof based on the attention to detail and personal touch their sales rep Jay provided. When Jay came to my home to estimate the replacement, the owner Dan Munoz also came by to introduce himself. Jay walked me through the insurance process and met directly with my insurance rep from Travelers. Jay also met the insurance rep at my home to ensure everybody was on the same page with the costs and measures of replacing my roof. Dan’s roof crew showed up promptly as scheduled and worked over 12 hours on day 1. When I came home from work, a few things immediately stood out: 1. All of the crew was working hard. 2. My large inground swimming pool was completely covered with a tarp to keep debris from going in. 3. A worker was continuously cleaning up debris from the grounds surrounding my house. A second layer was found and Jay called me to keep me informed. It was not to request more money, nothing out of pocket was required for the whole job. In my case, insurance payout covered the estimate from Dan. At the end of Day 1, the crew completely cleaned up the debris, swept paved areas, and ran the magnet over the property. Day 2 – same work ethic and attention to detail as Day 1. Dan was also there working alongside his crew. He took the time to ensure the vent pipes from the gas furnace were connected properly, inspecting the HVAC closet in my home. He also did the electrical wiring to the attic vents himself – stating he was required to do the electrical work. They finished and left the yard as clean as when they had arrived. I am completely satisfied with Dan’s Roofing and the service/quality of the work they performed. His crew was professional, hard-working, and respectful of my home. There was no radio blaring, no drink cup trash, roofing debris, or any other sign they were at my house for 2 days. If you need roofing repair or replacement on your home, please don’t hesitate to give Dan a call. I am happy and more importantly, my wife is happy

Member Comments: Dan was phenomenal. He returned my call quickly, and arranged to drive by and give me a quote the following morning, even though I would not be home at the time. He called on my cell and gave me a quote, which was a great price. When asked about time frame, he said he was willing to come after five that same day when he was finished for theday at another site. Dan came out himself and it took him less than 45 minutes, and he made sure it was sealed well and done right. He also explained about my roof (we had bought the house with a reasonably new roof so had no idea how long it might last or the workmanship, etc.), that whoever did it did a good job, it was a 50-year roof, and why thisparticular thing had happened (putting our minds at ease about the quality). Just as a comparison, I called many roofing companies and left messages over the weekend, and I am still getting initial call-backs from some of them. Some told me it would be over a week until I could get a quote or that they didn't waste their time with small jobs like mine. The fact that there are honest, hard-working roofers like Dan, who are willing to come out after their normal working hours, is reassuring in this modern world of 'charge more/workless/cut corners' contracting. Thank you, Dan, I'll be telling my friends about you and Angie's list. Description Of Work: Replaced roof on 8 year old home, where roof was damaged by hail a year ago. Shingles removed, new roof felt applied, all valleys had metal flashing installed (very important), with new asphalt shingles installed on a steep roof, with multiple levels and multiple angles. A more difficult roof due to steep grade and multiple levels. Removal of all old materials and cleanup of property.

Member Comments: It went extremely well as Dan has a very good team of roofers that works really well together. His team was respectful to us (and to each other). Work was done on time, which took two full days of effort of Dan's team. Dan and Jay (the quoter/sales guy) are very good to work with. Dan is extremely conscientous of his work and his people's work. I greatly appreciate when the team and the key men are in touch with us. Very excellent work. Cleanup was superb. Dan insists on flashings in all the valleys, which is smart.

    Approximate Cost: $21,000.00,

Description Of Work: Dan did a complete re-roof of old shingle removal, new underlay, and new shingles. Some special areas needed unique attention such as a deck roof with little pitch and a window well area with a metal covering. Some valleys were also of concern.

Member Comments: First of all, the date provided is an estimate since I'm writing this March 1, 2010 but the work was done last year. We had the intention of writing a good review for Dan but it got overlooked. Now, we're looking for another service person and remembered we forgot to mention Dan's good work. Dan was the only roofer who recognized immediately that the existing shingles were 50 year / lifetime. All others assumed a standard shingle. We weren't sure who to trust since there's a dilemma with the ambiguity of what the insurance company will allow (in a claim situation) and what you commit to the roofer. There's a lot of 'trust us' in the nature of the process. Also, the 'impounding' of funds by the mortgage company and the roofer's need for payment left us concerned. We trusted Dan and were rewarded with what seems to be a quality result from a really decent guy. You really do 'get Dan' when you hire the firm. We liked his low key, no problem style. Early on, the estimator from his company and us got a bit sideways due to the rather confrontive approach he took with the insurance company. I told Dan and things smoothed out. We've been through a hard winter and there have been no leaks or other problems. We'd hire him again. One annoyance was the late morning arrival of the crew each day. I couldn't understand why they couldn't show up early in the day and not risk extending the schedule. It affected my schedule because I wanted to be there when they arrived and observe for a little while. On the last day (Saturday) there was rain forecast and they still showed up mid-morning. It worked out (barely) and they cleaned up well and were gone. We found one low-voltage light near the house had been damaged but Dan had already bought a replacement and was installing it. Dan made the difference.

Description Of Work: We called Dans roofing for an estimate on our roof. I saw him here on Craigs list, and he had good reviews to we called him. We were worried we had damage to our roof due to severe weather conditions. After making an appointment, he showed up right on time. for a free estimate.

Member Comments: Dan climbed up onto our roof, to look for damage, and also see if we needed gutters installed. He spent some time up there, than gave us his report. He said he didn't see ANY damage, and since the rain came off our roof over a garden area, he honestly didn't see an urgent need for gutters. He ALSo told us we should check with a 'window guy' as our rooftop dormer windows needed re-calking. We were SO IMPRESSED by his honesty! He could have told us ANYTHING, and we wouldn't have known. He could have lied, and created a job for himself, but he didn't.It is rare to find such HONESTY these days. I would HIGHLY recommend him for a roof job. He will give a fair and honest appraisal.I imagine the quality of his work is as excellent as his ethics. If we EVER need a roof repair we will call him!

Description Of Work: Dan's Roofing removed the old shingles from my house and roofed it. They also removed old wood shingles from my detached garage, decked and roofed it.

Member Comments: The estimator Anthony showed up as scheduled. He inspected the roof and reviewed the insurance adjusters estimate. He agreed to do the work for the insurance estimate with a few tweaks he worked out with the insurance company. The insurance adjuster forgot to include an allowance for a second story and missed that the garage had a wood shingle base instead of decking. The estimator had been roofing houses for 30 years. He was knowledgeable, listened to my concerns and helpful.

The company showed up as scheduled. The crew was polite and professional. They removed the old shingles and reroofed in stages because the weather was iffy. They paid alot of attention to detail. All the the vents, clauking and etc matched the shingles. The owner and estimator were both at the worksite numerous times. No complaints.

Our next door neighbor, who is home all day, was so impressed with the crew and the work, that she is hiring the company.

Description Of Work: Several sections of the decking on my roof of the west side had become unsecured, resulting in long bulges of the shingles in multiple spots. Dan's Roofing repaired all of the "humps" in the roof, determined the root cause to be excessive heat in the attic. To prevent future occurrences, they installed additional roof louvers as well as installed soffit vents (there were few or none previously).

Member Comments: Dan himself arrived at my house shortly after my initial phone call to take a look at the problem and offer up a solution. I was instantly put at ease with his incredibly friendly demeanor, professionalism, and knowledge. What I've read in the other Angie's List reviews is 100% true - Dan is just the nicest guy you'll meet. He explained the source of the problem as well as his proposed solution in detail. He also immediately provided me with a quote for the work, and indicated that he wouldn't charge more even if it took longer or required more materials to complete the job. Because the work was much more minor than a full roof replacement, he asked if his crew could do the work on a day when there was a threat of rain as they wouldn't do full roof tear-offs on those days. I told him that was perfectly fine as there was no immediate urgency to my issue. To my surprise, Dan called just a few days later and asked permission to come by and do the work. I work from home so it was no problem. Dan and his crew showed up shortly thereafter and began working on the soffit vents and roof repair. They worked quickly and completed everything in about a half-day. Dan himself didn't stay throughout the entire job (I'm sure he has several things going each day) but he was in contact with his crew constantly and called me a couple times with updates. He offered to have his crew paint the soffit vents with the exact trim color of my house (I had extra paint) and came back to ensure everything was perfect. They cleaned up everything and even painted all of the piping and various bare metal whatnots that have been on my roof for years to match the roof and trim color. What a bonus! The roof looks better than ever and now my attic is much cooler. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dan's Roofing to anyone - The price is right, they do quality work, and they are honest and dependable. Don't waste your time with the others - Dan and his crew are the best!

Description Of Work: Dan's company removed multiple layers of shingles and replaced decking on a home that had been severely neglected for years. They also corrected some carpentry issues that could not be seen during the proposal.

Member Comments: After finding Dan's roofing on Angie's List I gave them a call and scheduled an appointment with Dan. Dan came out on a Saturday and he provided me with a quote within three days. I had previously acquired a separate quote from a different roofing company. After comparing quotes I chose Dan because of his detailed quote and his rating. I made the right decision. Dan started on time, stayed late the first day (rain was on the way) to complete some potential leak areas and to tarp off an area that I had made repairs on. Dan finished on time, did everything he said he would do and more. I have used other roofing companies in the past and by far Dan's roofing is the best. Thanks Dan.

Description Of Work: I had a small leak in my bedroom ceiling after the wind and rain earlier this week. He identified the problem area and put tar on the area that had been improperly installed by the last roofing crew.

Member Comments: My ceiling showed moisture around one of the rafters following the heavy wind and rain earlier this week. I called Dan about 7AM and even though it was early, he listened to my sad story. He told me he had seven calls to make and wasn't sure whether he could come by for another 24 hours. When I gave him my address, he told me he had a call to make in my neighborhood and might stop by before he left. About 2 hours later Dan was at the door. I expected to buy a new roof. Dan inspected the roof, identified the problem and came down. The first words I heard were "You don't need a new roof." For $100 he "fixed" the problem and was on his way in 20 minutes. I was at this man's mercy and would have gone along with most any plan he had. I've NEVER had this type of experience with a roofing contractor. A+

Description Of Work: This was a complete re-roofing: strip old shingles (multiple layers) re-deck, new shingles. Add vents. New guttering.

Member Comments: I chose this company by observing their work in the area, my property being a 1926 house in historical neighborhood. Quotation by Anthony was prompt and very detailed; their interaction with insurance company was vital. They arrived promptly as I had been notified to begin work. Their on-site foreman and crew were exceptional workers (with some pleasant singing/whistling as a plus !) Dan and Anthony were on-site several times each day, with Dan directly involved with custom-fabricating the chimney flashing. Great attention to detail. Dan is definitely a perfectionist and takes well-deserved pride in his and his company's work. Each day the crew completed an excellent cleanup of work area which was most appreciated. The whole job and final cleanup were superb. I couldn't be more pleased.

Description Of Work: Dan's Roofing is awesome!! Dan took my first call to his business (at the end of a day) and, in spite of the snowy weather, scheduled time for the next day, which was a Saturday. He showed up first, cleared the section of roof over the leak that had formed in a bedroom below, then scheduled his crew to come back in a few hours to clear a 4' perimeter all around the structure to eliminate ice dams. The crew was on time, courteous, and got the job done in a relatively short time (to me). They even went back and cleared the fallen roof snow from the driving/walking paths I'd just paid someone to dig out earlier that day! Sunday, Dan came back and laid down a tarp over the leak area and spent time explaining how the interior damage could be handled, gave suggestions on how to improve the insulation in conjunction with the roof repair or replacement, and patiently answered all my questions to my satisfaction. I am so impressed with the way this company handled my issue.

Member Comments: I filed a claim with my homeowners insurance due to a leak from a bedroom ceiling. They strongly suggested getting the ice dams cleared asap to prevent further problems, so my first thought was "I'm ready to try Angie's list now" (I'd already had to struggle to find a good plumber on my own just 3 months ago, I was ready for referenced professionals). After making several calls, I was so pleased that Dan's Roofing answered right away and I didn't have to leave a message. I never once got the inkling that, as a woman unfamiliar with roof structures, I was being "talked down to" or "patronized". They showed up the next day, got the work done in a timely fashion, eased all my concerns about safety being restored (my elderly mother lives in an attached apartment, so that was very helpful), and scheduled a followup visit the next day to get the affected area covered and ready for the next snow event later in the week. I will definitely go to Dan's Roofing first when it's time to repair or replace the roof.

Description Of Work: I saw the excellent rating for Dan's Roofing on Angie's List, so they were the first roofers I called when I noticed a problem. I called Dan on a Friday to see if he could come take a look at my leaky roof. His brother Anthony came over that very day and went all through the crawl space of my house to check the leaky areas. He then went on top of the roof to see what was going on on the exterior areas of the leak. He pinpointed the problems and gave me an estimate of what it would be to repair the leaks. He was very confident he had located the problems and could fix them immediately. Anthony, Dan and their employees came out the next day (Saturday) and repaired the entire roof, including holes in the stucco on a chimney, and other issues. After the roof was repaired, I pointed out an area on a dormer window where there was a piece of siding missing, and Dan personally came over the following day (Sunday) with a piece of siding, and he installed and caulked the piece of siding onto the house. He did not charge me anything to do that.

Member Comments: I was amazed at how quickly Dan and Anthony responded to my call. From the moment of my telephone call to the moment of completion was a span of less than 48 hours. They were knowledgable, professional, and very patient with our dogs and several swarms of wasps that had made their home on and under the roof. Not one complaint from them about any of that. They did the work quickly and professionally. When the work was completed, Anthony gave me a written 5-year warranty on the repair job and told me to call him if we had any further leaks. He said he would come out during a rainstorm to see if any problems remain. This was by far one of the best experiences I have had with a repair/construction job. Well done!

Description Of Work: Dan's Roofing removed and replaced the old shake roofs on the house and garage with GAF StainGuard Camelot II shingles over new Energy Star rated solarboard and a complete ice shield perimeter wrap. The flat carport roof was upgraded with a complete aluminum coating. He also replaced and stained a few pieces of siding that had been chewed on by raccoons at no extra cost.

Member Comments: I was very pleased with the whole project. Dan was very helpful when I was trying to choose the new shingles. He worked up three different bids using several types of shingles and didn't try to push me toward the most expensive one. He simply and thoroughly explained my options and allowed me to make my own decision. I am very pleased with the end result---the roof looks great! Dan and his crew were a pleasure to work with. They showed up when they said they would, only removed as many of the old shingles as they could replace in one day so I didn't have to worry about rain, were careful not to damage any landscaping, finished the job quickly but well, and cleaned up after themselves when they left. I had to have the gutter screens replaced and the company I hired to do that was amazed that the roofer had not damaged the old gutters. He said that many roofers crush the guttering with their ladders, but my 30-year-old guttering was in perfect shape. In conclusion, the roofing project could not have gone better. It was a pleasant experience from start to finish and I have been recommending Dan's Roofing to all of my friends and will continue to do so.

Description Of Work: Damage was a result of the blizzard we had this winter. Removed shingles underneath the dead valley pan and repair the decking. Replaced the leak damaged soffit and removed the partition board. Replaced this board with a low visibility metal diverter down the length of the small gable. (This diverter was previously incorrectly installed and caused a snow bank during blizzard and caused damaged that needed this repair.) He installed a self-adhering ice shield over this entire deck area sliding it up and under the dead valley. Also installed step flashing underneath the dead valley to protect the barge rafter.

Member Comments: Dan Munoz and his crew were very professional, thorough and easy to work with. When I called Mr. Munoz about an appraisal, he was out in 25 minutes and I was emailed an estimation of the work needed within 2 hours of his visit. He was always very timely in his response to any questions I had for insurance purposes and scheduled the work as soon as I had heard from my insurance company. He and his workers showed up early in the morning, explained all that was going to take place and asked if I had any questions. His crew immediately went to work and completed all work by that afternoon and cleaned up all materials that they used. He then went over what was done and asked if all went well and if there were any other concerns or questions. I cannot emphasize enough what great customer service I received from his company. A true professional.
